Who Are We?
"The Raging Feminists" was born out of the fact that we felt the need to educate more people about feminist issues. The fact that we are raging is important because as Feminists, we see the gross gender inequality all around us and are very much disturbed by this, which leads to this rage. We see no point in quelling this rage unless we are able to bring some change into the world.
The use of the phrase "Raging Feminists" is purposeful in order to remove the stigma surrounding it. When a certain person appears to be a "Raging Feminist", they are often ridiculed and written off. Through this blog, we seek to bring to everyone's notice the reason behind this rage and why it is important to be a "Raging Feminist".
Another focus of this blog is to take Feminism from Lit Theory classes and academic circles to the rest of the world. Often, a lot of what academics have to say about Feminism is lost among jargon. Our attempt is to bring to the fore, issues of gender in language that is accessible to a larger reading audience.
"The Raging Feminists" is a contribution based blog where anyone who has anything to say about gender related issues can air their views. We understand that there are many Feminisms, and thus all kinds of opinions are welcome as long as your concern is not sexist. Any kind of writing from opinion pieces, to poems to response pieces are accepted. Conversely, you could also become a contributor on a regular basis for our blog. Contact us or send in your pieces to firstname.lastname@example.org
A twenty-two year old Middle Eastern studies major, who doesn't endorse the term, "The Middle-East." Conveniently uses cinema as a synonym for politics and actively thinks we're living the Hunger Games. Favorite film - Amores Perros, favorite politics - my extended family.
